Lawn Care Services
“We offer a range of services aimed to deliver a beautiful lawn.”
Over 15 thousand hours of local commercial and residential maintenance experience.
Lawn Aeration
Recommended - 2x per year
The process of aeration creates small, “cores” into the lawn’s root-zone. These openings will improve water infiltration, Co2/O2 gas exchange, and increase nutrient absorption. Additionally this service will help reduce surface compaction, thatch, and support seed germination. This is one of the single best things you can do when it comes to keeping a great lawn.
Power-raking / De-thatching
Recommended - 2x per year
Our power-raking service is aimed at removing excess grassy debris known as “thatch.” Thinning this layer can help improve the health and appearance of your lawn. We use a custom built machine that allows us to gently and effectively remove thatch and moss accumulation without damaging your lawn in the process!
Inter-seeding
Recommended - 1-2x per year
Bring new life to the lawn! Our other services work together to promote seed germination and establishment. We use fresh, high-quality local seeds to best match your existing lawn type, preference, and growing conditions.
Top-dressing
Recommended - 1-2x per year
Top-dressing involves spreading a thin, even layer organic material over the lawn. This will improve seed germination by helping to retain moisture and reducing seed loss to wildlife predation. When routinely performed, this has been shown to improve soil health.
Fertilization
Maintaining adequate nutrient levels (N-P-K) is a critical component to keeping a healthy, attractive lawn. Our approach is centered around current turf grass management best practices. We offer both organic and conventional options.
Moss treatment & Removal
We apply a foliar application of iron sulphate to treat moss prior to removal. This will treat the existing moss making it easier to remove, while reducing the chance of spread thru spores or fragments. Expect to see rapid blackening of moss and a deep green color response in your lawn following treatment. We follow up with mechanical moss removal when the soil is firm to prevent damage.
Water Saver Treatment
Use of a wetting agent product will improve your lawns ability to utilize rainfall and supplemental irrigation. Many lawns in our area grow in heavy clay soils. Clay soil is great for holding moisture but if they dry out during warmer months these soils can become hydrophobic, repelling water. This often leads to surface run-off and evaporation loss. A wetting agent reduces surface tension allowing water to more easily enter the soil and get to the grass’s root-zone. This can result in a reduced water bill as well as improved turf quality thru the summer. We perform this treatment at the time of seeding to aid in germination and as a maintenance practice two weeks prior summer drought conditions. #1 ~June 15 with (2) subsequent treatments spaced 30 days apart.
This product requires being thoroughly watered in with a garden hose or irrigation system following treatment.
Lawn leveling
Bumpy lawn? Having a smooth surface is one of the most overlooked qualities of a great lawn. We will fill-in low spots, dips, ruts, and divots. While we take steps to minimize settling, it is important to be aware this a process and can require some upkeep from year to year.
Broadleaf weed RX
Allow us to take care of the weeds for you. We maintain a commercial applicators license with the Oregon dept. of Agriculture. By hiring a professional you can have peace of mind that applications will be made safely, effectively, and in accordance of local regulations.
Preventative Weed RX (pre-emergent)
Certain weedy crass types such as crabgrass and Poa Annua are best controlled by using a preventative approach. Unlike broadleaf weeds that are easy to treat, grassy type weeds are significantly more challenging to remove once established. Our pre-emergent applications are carefully timed to best prevent dormant seeds from germinating. Note that this service requires 3-4 sequential applications per year for maximum control. It is important to understand this is not a cure-all, but rather a long-term approach to managing an exceptional lawn. If you are starting with a lawn that is over 30% grassy weeds, we recommend spraying out the lawn and starting over with new seed or sod.
*Our standard treatment will also prevent desirable grass seed from germinating. If you are planning to over-seed or renovate within 5 months of the last treatment, please let us know. We will utilize a different product to avoid a timing conflict.
Sea Kelp or seaweed contains a plant hormone known as cytokinin. This bio-stimulant has been shown by 10 year V.A. tech studies to improve drought stress tolerance. For maximum benefit this is applied at low rates through sequential applications starting in the spring.
