More info about our process…
Irrigation - First we ensure our customers have a suitable way to water their lawn. Proper watering will be the most influential factor to success! We often recommend our customers first have an electronic timer and proper coverage.
Seasonal Timing - This service is best performed between August 15th- thru October 15th to coincide with ideal conditions for establishment.
Quality grass seeds - We use fresh, quality grass seed sourced from Silverton OR. We offer perennial rye, turf type tall fescue, and a shade blend.
Seed to soil contact - We take steps to prepare the seedbed ensuring new grass seeds have proper contact with exposed soil.
Fertilizer - We will apply a quick release fertilizer at the time of seeding. This application will help existing grass recover while providing nutrients for new seedlings.
Seed cover (Compost top-dressing) - When over-seeding we apply a thin layer of premium organic compost. This will help with germination and provide a defense against birds.
Water Saver treatment - We use a high quality (eco-friendly) wetting agent to assist in maintaining proper soil moisture levels. Additionally this can help prevent “wash-out” from heavy rainfall.
Follow-up visits (optional) - Caring for grass seedlings can require some extra attention. We offer a “grow-in” package to help keep things on-track.
Our “Grow-in” package - $350
New grass seedlings will require a little bit of additional care and attention until fully matured. Like with anything, there are some subtle nuances that go into growing grass. We want all of our customers to achieve the best results possible. For this reason we recommend our follow-up care package. Our plan is aimed at rapid establishment before seasons change. If you prefer a DIY approach, simply follow our guide below!
Follow-up care package includes: (3x) site-visits, (2x) fertilizer applications, (1x) broadleaf weed treatment.
Visit #1 (~2 weeks) - “I see some new grass…”
Blake’s L&G: We will check soil moisture level, look for initial germination, and ensure no damage or wash-out has occurred.
Customer: continue watering 1x, every day (.15 inch per day)
Visit #2 (~4 weeks) - “The lawn still looks a bit thin…”
Blake's L&G: We continue monitoring soil moisture and germination. A 2nd Fertilizer application is made. We will apply additional seed if needed.
Customer: Resume mowing, reduce watering frequency. begin watering more, less often (~.25 inch per watering every-other-day)
Visit #3 (~8 weeks -weather dependent) “You are crowned President of the HOA”
Blake’s L&G : During this visit we will treat broadleaf weeds and apply a final round of fertilizer for the year.
Customer: Continue watering, continue frequent mowing. Cutting 2x a week is ideal.
*If your property has notable drainage concerns, tree roots, or shade, we always recommend addressing these issues first. It will be critically important to keep traffic (kids & pets) off the lawn for a minimum of 8 weeks while establishing. This service will require customers to have a properly functioning sprinkler system or means of watering daily.
